Description
LSSI's outpatient substance use treatment program uses an abstinence-based model. Clients receive group and individual counseling. Family and couples counseling is also available. Clients are encouraged to find outside support programs as well (12 step program, church, etc). Outside speakers/educators are often brought in. Toxicology screenings, DUI risk education, and DUI update evaluations are available.

- For ages 18 and older accept Arlington Heights which accepts ages 13 and over.

How to Apply
Call your preferred location for a phone screening and to set up an intake appointment. The intake appointment takes approximately 2 hours and includes a meeting with a counselor and an assessment. You will need to bring the following documents:
- photo ID
- proof of income, or notarized proof of indigence
- medical card, if applicable
- referral information, if applicable
Wait list varies by location, but is generally no more than a few weeks.. After the initial appointment, clients can expect to start the program immediately. There is priority availability, and accommodations are made for special circumstances.
You must self-pay or present a notarized letter of indigence to be eligible for sliding scale fees. LSSI staff can assist you with obtaining a letter of indigence if needed. Sliding scale fees are based on family size and income.
LSSI accepts Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Humana, and Optum PPO and some HMO plans. The following MCO plans are accepted: Aetna Better Health, Blue Cross Blue Shield ICP and Family Health Plan, Cigna Health Spring, County Care, Family Health Network, Harmony, Humana, IlliniCare, Meridian, Molina, and Next Level. Please note that the Sterling location accepts Medicaid only.
There is a $25-$160 fee for the intake assessment dependent upon income.
Spanish program is available at the Arlington Heights location only.
