Medication Assisted Treatment • Substance Use Counseling • Methadone
Description
Methadone maintenance is a long-term treatment for opioid dependence. When taken daily, methadone blocks drug cravings and withdrawal symptoms. Clients begin with a low dose of methadone, which is adjusted as needed to maintain stable therapeutic drug levels. All clients are assigned a counselor to monitor their treatment progress. Medically managed withdrawal services are available to clients wishing to discontinue methadone use, with re-stabilization provided as needed.

You will begin by meeting with a counselor to complete paperwork and an assessment. Then, a nurse will check your vital signs and complete lab work. Finally, you will meet with a doctor who will assess your withdrawal symptoms and determine an appropriate starting dose of medication. You must undergo a drug screening to confirm the presence of opiates in your system and test for the presence of other illicit substances (e.g., cocaine, THC, amphetamines, benzodiazepines) that may interfere with treatment. Please allow 3 hours to complete the intake process. If eligible, you will begin treatment immediately following intake.
