Depression • Bipolar Disorder • Mental Health • Peer Support • Support Groups
DBSA offers peer-led groups providing emotional support to individuals affected by depression and bipolar disorder. The groups provide a safe space to share experiences and emotions. Meetings open with the reading of a "Hope and Wellness" statement. The main focus is on check-in about the week. The group often divides into small groups to allow time for everyone who would like to share to do so. Meetings close with an inspirational saying. The group also hosts social events for group members.
-To avoid triggering group members' symptoms, all members are asked to refrain from discussing details of sexual behavior, substance use, or suicide attempts.
