Description
Norwegian American Hospital and Family Guidance Centers Inc. provides detoxification services for adults who are addicted to opioids (for example, heroin) and/or alcohol. The program is a 3 day detox: patients with Medicare Part A and B may be approved for a 4 day stay. Patients are monitored by medical staff during withdrawal, and buprenorphine (Suboxone) or other medication is administered to reduce withdrawal symptoms.

Eligibility
-Accepts almost all Medicaid, Medicare, and private insurance plans. Aetna and IlliniCare, and are not accepted. Blue Cross Blue Shield and Meridian Medicaid Managed Care plans will cover only 24 hours of observation (no medication).
- Uninsured patients will be referred to clinics that offer free treatment.

How to Apply
Call 773-292-5998 during business hours (Monday through Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm) to schedule an intake appointment. Appointments are generally available weekdays from 7:00am-7:00pm, and most clients can be seen within 2 days. Please bring the following to your appointment:
-Photo ID
-Insurance card
The intake process includes an assessment and insurance verification. You will then go to the emergency department for a screening to ensure that detox is appropriate.
