Description
Weiss Memorial Hospital geriatric psychiatry program provides short-term inpatient treatment to seniors who live at home or in nursing or rehab facilities. A staff of geriatric psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, occupational and physical therapists, and other mental health professionals help patients with a wide range of disorders, including those complicated by medical or neurological conditions. Services include medication; individual, group, and spiritual therapy, and diagnosis of underlying medical conditions. The goal is to return patients to their residences within eight to ten days. The program can accommodate up to 10 patients at a time.

Eligibility
- For seniors ages 65 and older.
- Must be medically stable, ambulatory, and free of tubing (e.g., IV, CPAP). Patients on oxygen can sometimes be accommodated.

How to Apply
Call 773-564-5700 to verify your insurance benefits. If your insurance is accepted, you must be obtain medical clearance (generally through an emergency room) prior to admission. Patients in crisis and those living at home receive priority over those in a nursing home or other facility. Patients are generally able to be admitted right away after receiving medical clearance. Please bring a photo ID and insurance information at admission.
