Description
The mood disorders inpatient unit at Rush is devoted to treating acutely ill adult patients with mood disorders. During their stay, patients receive psychotherapeutic and psychopharmacologic treatment to help them recover and prepare for their transition back to community life. Customized treatment plans are developed based on each patient’s unique needs, and patients are encouraged to play an active role in their treatment. To best help patients achieve their treatment goals, the unit offers the following services:
- Psychopharmacologic treatment
- Mood disorder-focused cognitive therapy group sessions
- Educational group sessions regarding illness and coping strategies
- Discharge planning to help patients develop an appropriate transition plan
- Access to all other specialists and medical and support services at Rush, including occupational therapy and spiritual support

How to Apply
For emergency mental health needs, walk into the Emergency Room any time. For non-critical mental health services, call (312) 942-2400 ext. 2 to schedule an appointment M-F 8:00am-5:00pm. New patients may also request an appointment online. Please bring a Photo ID and insurance information.
